“Starry Night” was a custom request from a woman who wanted me to create a likeness of Van Gogh’s painting, but on a 9-inch round bowl. She had another piece on a bowl that she really liked, so… I told her yes, of course. (Never turn down a good challenge!)
Then I had to figure out exactly how I was going to do it.
First, I drew the whole design out on a flat piece of paper—21 inches long and 6.5 inches tall. That’s how large the design is when the bowl is basically “unwrapped” and laid out flat!
Then I started cutting the glass and putting it all together. All said and done, it took about 16 hours of work…but it came out great. She was very happy with it, and so was I!
And yes, I’ll make you one too!
It gives off a beautiful light at night, and it’s quite a centerpiece.
